OVERVIEW OF GEARED
Geared is an interesting game, especially for those who are interested in puzzles. As you draw cards, attempt to build bikes by combining the three key cards, handlebars, wheels, and frames. Matching cards score more points, but as long as the three cards are present, the bike can still score points. Players attempt to score 1000 points before any other player.
Firstly, the group must determine who will be the first dealer. The dealer will then shuffle the cards, dealing five cards to each player. The remainder of the deck is placed in the middle of the table, face down to form the draw pile. All discarded cards are placed directly beside the draw pile, creating the discard pile. The player on the left of the dealer will begin the game. During their turn, players may play a part card to build a bike or play an action card to mess with the cards that another player has already played. Players may only play one card during their turn.
Players are also able to move their cards around between bike builds as long as they are incomplete. At the end of their turn, players must draw the same number of cards that they played.
In order to build a bike, a player must combine a Frame Card, a Handlebar Card, and a Wheels Card. This makes up a complete bike. The cards are combined by placing them on top of one another. Matching cards earns players more points.
Players are scored by the combinations of Frames, Handlebars, and Wheel cards that they have combined. If all three cards of a build match, then the player can earn the total Set Value for the build. If they do not match, the player simply adds up the points of the individual parts.
Parts Cards: Parts cards are played when they are placed directly in front of the player, face up. Players can play as many parts cards as they want without limitation.
Action Cards: Action cards may be used on parts cards that have been played. These cards may allow cards to be removed, stolen, or swapped.
Wild Cards: Wild Cards are able to replace the part value or set value of any part. It immediately assumes the level of the card it is assigned to.
END OF GAME
The game comes to an end when a player has scored 1000 points. This player is declared the winner. Other players are placed in descending order according to their points scored.
